Te Kai

TE Kai, the bow of the canoe, is the heart of the City campus at Ara - Institute of Canterbury. A purpose built administration block, Home of the leadership team of ara.

Designed by Athfield Architects, Te Kai features a distinctive pre-weathered zinc cladding installed by us. The choosen pre-manufactured Adeka tile from VM-Zinc complements the design ideas of Te Kai and the small format gives an almost tactile appearance. The clean and innovative flashing solutions create a minimalistic distortions from the consistency of the adeka tile. The small format zinc tile is backed with a polystyrene wedge which is bonded to the underside, to ensure the rigidity of the panel. This is achiving the distinctive aesthetics of the diamond shaped elements.
