The Piano
Architecturally designed by Wilkie&Bruce, The Piano auditorium seats over 300 people and is a popular location for musicians who perform un-amplified. Located on Gloucester street the building has been inspired by the elegance of a grand piano, incorporating subtle references to the defining features such as fluid curves and precise lines throughout.
TARC standing seam profiles have been utilised and executed to enhance the complexity of the auditorium. The natural copper provides a vibrant patina, adding texture to the fluid forms carried by the towering columns and there is an essence of harmony as the form transitions to the copper fascia.
The Piano is truly a standout project in Christchurch’s Art’s district.
